This inaugural gateball championship was extremely successful with all participants thoroughly enjoying the day. The competition was played as doubles, with each pairing having an experienced gateball player and a novice.
With 6 pairs in total, a round robin was played between 2 groups of 3 pairs, with the top 2 pairs from each group advancing to the finals knockout with the bottom 2 pairs playing off for the wooden spoon.
Winners were Will Antill and Peter Lloyd who defeated Jacob Buette and Margaret Priest.
The Wagga Wagga Croquet Club has continued its fantastic work promoting gateball, with a
demonstration at the farmers market earlier this month.
Organised by Jim Nicholls, the event was
run by young members of the club who attend the Riverina Anglican College. The demonstration has
already resulted in another school approaching the club to discuss playing gateball. Congratulations
to all involved!
Of course the best art about croquet and gateball is you are never too young to start.
